I consider myself incredibly optimistic but having survived as a business owner for so many years, there are few occurrences that surprise me. That is until I received a call from Desiree Rogers from Ebony Magazine while in Hawaii producing the beautiful actress Tichina Arnold’s wedding. She personally called to congratulate me on making the Inaugural Ebony Power 100 List. Needless to say, I was beyond surprised – more like shell-shocked!
Being the extremist that I am, I immediately went into prep mode for November 2nd. Booked my glam squad – Jason Sky and Leo Eley, upped my training to 5 days a week with my trainer Jordan P. Vappie (the P is for phenomenal), commenced another crash diet but more importantly I decided to live in this moment. The highlight reel of my career plays on fast-forward in my mind. Always hustling, continuously educating myself, looking for ways to inspire the next generation, setting bigger goals, dreaming bigger dreams and praying my journey would move faster that I’ve rarely enjoyed my many victories. So on this night, I prayed for those suffering from Hurricane Sandy, took long deep breathes, glided with small steps and thanked God that He chose to use Ebony to confirm to me that yes – I AM ENOUGH!
